Howrah is an industrial city on the left bank of river Hooghly and is Kolkata's twin city. Howrah is also West Bengal's second largest city. The two cities are linked by the famous Howrah Bridge (Rabindra Setu). This is the world' busiest bridge. The bridge links Kolkata with Howrah Station, one of India's largest railway stations.
Howrah Station has twenty-one platforms that handle over three hundred trains and serves more than one a million passengers every day. It is served by two zones of the Indian Railways: Eastern Railway and South Eastern Railway.
At Howrah Station there are an uncountable number of street children due to the highly transient nature of street children. The railways play a major role in the life of street children in India. Gradually, a junction or terminus becomes their home where they learn the norms of survival and have very little contact with society.
Life Connection ministry desires to reach street children that live in Howrah city. By bringing transformation to the children in Howrah, the ministry also has the opportunity to cooperate with God's kingdom in this city.
